Polar Explorer and Extreme Diver
An Adventurer of the Polar Regions
Born in 1977 in Troyes, France, Alban Michon is a polar explorer and professional ice diver. He discovered scuba diving at the age of 11 and quickly knew it would become his life’s calling. By the age of 22, he owned the Ice Diving School of Tignes in the French Alps, where he trains divers to operate in the most extreme conditions.

Remarkable Expeditions
Alban has led and participated in several major expeditions that combine human adventure with scientific exploration:

2010 – “Deepsea Under The Pole”
Over 45 days, he performed dives under the Arctic ice cap at the North Pole, contributing to climate change research. -
2012 – “Le Piège Blanc” in Greenland
He traveled 1,000 km by sea kayak along Greenland’s east coast, diving beneath icebergs to study marine ecosystems. -
2018 – “Arktic” Expedition
A 62-day solo crossing of the Northwest Passage, during which he conducted scientific sampling in extremely harsh conditions.
Founder of the School of Explorers
In 2020, Alban founded the École des Explorateurs in Tignes, a unique institution that trains future adventurers in polar survival, ice diving, and expedition preparation in hostile environments.
